The 5 Best Cannabis Recipes for 2022

#5 Cannabutter – Level: Easy

Possibly the most important recipe on the list is Cannabutter.

Without making Cannabutter first, you’ll be limited to far fewer choices when using cannabis to cook with, and having some around will really open the doors to new food options.

Cannabutter is exactly how it sounds, cannabis butter.

It’s relatively easy to make, and you can have a batch whipped up in less than a day that can last for several months.

Cannabutter Recipe:

Makes approx. 12 fluid oz total (1/2 teaspoon is around 5mg THC depending on the strength of cannabis)

Ingredients:

¼ oz Dried cannabis flower

1 lb. (4 sticks) unsalted butter

2 – 2.5 Glasses of water

Instructions:

  1. Start by grinding up your cannabis flower. You’ll want it to be ground down fairly well, but not fine. Think small, soft chunks, not powder.

  1. Add butter and 2 cups of water into a medium sized saucepan and bring to a low simmer over medium heat.

  1. When the butter starts melting, add the ground cannabis and reduce the heat to low.

  1. Stir occasionally and keep the temperature around 235°F for around 2 to 3 hours, or until a glossy, thick layer begins to develop on the top of the mixture, add more water if temperature rises too high.

  1. When the mixture develops its thicker top layer, line the cheesecloth into a jar and use a strainer to pour the butter into the jar and let it sit for approximately 5 minutes.

  1. Press out any butter from the larger thick layer on the strainer, and let the container sit in a refrigerator for 5 – 10 hours and you’re done!

With Louisiana recently adding cannabis flower to the menu, you can shop all the available strains through any of Louisiana’s online dispensary menus and make your own cannabutter!

#4 S’mores – Level: Super Easy

S’mores are one of the best parts of the holidays and wintertime, and making cannabis S’mores is wildly easy.

In fact, all you need to do to make them is to just swap out the regular chocolate bar to a cannabis chocolate bar and you’re done.

You could go all out and bake up your own cannabis chocolate, but if you’re not interested in being in the kitchen for quite that long, swapping out the Hershey’s for a dispensary grade edible is the way to go.

#3 Mac ‘N Cheese – Level: Intermediate

Mac ‘N Cheese is an American staple meal, and tons of families all over the world enjoy this creamy pasta.

All that’s needed to make cannabis Mac ‘N Cheese is to replace regular butter with Cannabutter, though we highly recommend making a bread crumb-topped Mac ‘N Cheese and using the butter in the crust layer.

Not only does this taste amazing, but you’ll have the added benefit of medicating while you’re enjoying it too!

#3 Homemade Pizza – Level: Intermediate

Pizza is incredibly easy to make at home, and it’s probably one of the more enjoyable experiences in the kitchen. Tossing around the dough is too much fun and you’ll be happy with the unbelievable flavors from adding cannabis to the mix.

Just replace regular butter with cannabutter and you’ll be able to bake your buds right into the pizza! Especially on the crust, using cannabutter instead of regular butter blends into the flavor surprisingly well, and kudos if you use real mozzarella.

#2 Fettuccini Alfredo – Level: Difficult

While you might be tempted to pull a frozen box of fettuccine alfredo out of the fridge and add cannabutter, we highly recommend making the pasta by hand.

This is a great experience and can be a great time if you have friends or loved ones in the kitchen with you. And although making pasta by hand is a little extra, you’ll be amazed at how much better it tastes, especially when you add cannabutter.

Our favorite cannabis fettuccini alfredo recipe uses cannamilk as opposed to cannabutter, which is a great-tasting alternative for creamier dishes.

#1 Cannabis Hot Chocolate – Level: Super Easy

Cannabis hot chocolate is our #1 pick because it’s very easy to make, tastes great, and it’s perfect for a cold start to the new year.

There’s nothing quite like snuggling up next to a fire with a cup of hot cocoa, and adding a chocolate edible or making your own cannamilk could really spice up the holidays.

And, if you add some cannabis S’mores to your cannabis hot chocolate, you could have something really special.
