How to Use Cannabis Vape Cartridges

The Louisiana medical marijuana program offers many different cannabis products for qualifying patients.

Concentrates, cannabis flower, edibles, tinctures, and more are all available at Louisiana pharmacies, giving patients a variety of cannabis products to choose from.

Vape cartridges are one of the most popular ways of consuming cannabis in 2022, offering a discreet, convenient, and potent dose of THC in a small package. Vape cartridges come in a variety of different styles, flavors, and potencies, and there are different grades when it comes to quality.

In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the different vape cartridges available in Louisiana, how they work, and how medical marijuana patients use them to get relief!

The Different Types of Cannabis Vape Cartridges in Louisiana

Vape Cartridges Currently Limited in Louisiana

Vape cartridges are one of the most popular cannabis products on the market, and as such, they quickly go out of stock at the 9 Louisiana pharmacies.

You’ll typically be able to find between 1 – 3 vape products per pharmacy location, with limited strain variety until cultivators produce more cartridges.

The two styles of vape cartridges that are currently available in Louisiana are the traditional pre-filled vape cartridges that can be used with any regular vape battery and a pod style cartridge designed for a specific device.

There’s no real benefit for one over the other, however the traditional cartridges come in 355mg cartridges, and the pods usually come in 205mg doses at a higher price. The traditional style will also benefit from being able to be used by many different battery types.

Vape Cartridges in Louisiana Are C02 Only, For Now

The cartridges you’ll find at Louisiana pharmacies are pre-filled with a C02 extract of THC combined with terpenes.

Good Day Farm produces a range of vape cartridges in different cannabis markets, including full-spectrum, cartridges with fruit terpenes, and live resin, though the Louisiana market currently only has access to a limited supply of regular C02 cartridges.

In the future we’ll likely see more variety in the options for vape cartridges from Good Day Farm in Louisiana, though for now, harvests have yet to meet the demand for vape cartridges and prices are some of the highest in the Country.

If Louisiana manages to get a few more cultivators online, the supply of vape cartridges could increase dramatically, alongside a significant decrease in price.

For now, medical marijuana patients in Louisiana will have to pay a premium for the limited supply of vape cartridges, provided they are available at the pharmacy.

How Medical Marijuana Patients Use Cannabis Vape Cartridges

Vape Cartridges Are Convenient, Smoke-Free, & Easy-to-Use

Many medical marijuana patients will be looking to intake cannabis products without smoking, and vape cartridges offer an excellent alternative to traditional smoking.

They’re also incredibly convenient and portable, making them the go-to choice for patients looking to medicate discreetly and without the use of large devices.

Vape cartridges do have higher amounts of THC than cannabis flower, though, and patients will want to approach vape cartridges with a little extra caution as they increase the level of THC they’re taking.

Vape cartridges typically contain 60% - 90%+ THC, which is far more than cannabis flower. Because of the smaller size, the amount of THC per dose is also higher, so one puff of a vape cart will be stronger than one puff from cannabis flower.

There is also a bit of difference in the high that is experienced from vape cartridges, and many patients report that it’s a more “floaty, ethereal” kind of high while cannabis flower is typically weightier.

Incorporating Vape Cartridges Into Your Treatment Plan

Vape cartridges are particularly good for being on the go because they are extremely portable and don’t require anything but a charge to use.

For patients that need to be in places where smoking is not an option but still need to medicate, vape cartridges are a great option because they don’t produce any smoke and the smell doesn’t linger for very long.

Vape cartridges are a great way to adjust your tolerance, too, and if the effects from cannabis flower are feeling less effective, adding a few puffs from a vape to your treatment schedule can help a ton.

Vape cartridges are a little different from cannabis flower in that typically only one or two large puffs are required to produce significant effects, while cannabis flower is usually smoked over many puffs.

Patients often use vape cartridges as a way to alternate their products too, which can help offer a more robust approach with cannabis to target multiple or intense symptoms.
