With the approval of smokable cannabis flower in Louisiana, patients have been shopping at pharmacies in record breaking numbers.

The effects from cannabis can range depending on the product and potency you’re using, though patients with a high tolerance can find the effects lasting shorter than it used to, with diminished effects too.

There are a handful of ways to make the high from cannabis more potent or last longer, and in this article, we’ll discover how to get most out of cannabis by using a few cunning tricks that can make your cannabis stronger and last longer!

How to Make Your Cannabis More Potent

Start With High-THC Products, Mix & Match When Needed

If you’ve found that your tolerance is making the high from cannabis shorter or less potent, no worries, it’s something everyone experiences if they use cannabis for a long enough time.

Tolerance is completely relative to each person, and while some people may always have heightened experiences with cannabis, others will see diminishing returns at some point.

There’s no level you’ll hit where cannabis is entirely ineffective, you’ll always be able to increase the potency or amount that you’re using, and it’s not something that will ever hit a ceiling.

Though, a higher tolerance will change how you approach cannabis and the type of cannabis products that you use, and the first step to getting a stronger kick or a longer lasting high is to increase the potency.

Swapping cannabis flower for concentrates or other high-THC products can drastically change the high from cannabis, and stronger products will produce a more intense and often lengthier high.

Mix & Match Your Cannabis Products When Needed

Another trick to making your cannabis more effective is to mix and match your strains and products.

When you find a strain that works perfectly it’s easy to want to stick to that strain, but your body will become used to this strain over time and its effects will slowly become less perceivable.

One way to overcome this difficulty is by switching your strains when you notice that one is working less efficiently. Changing your regular product entirely can dramatically alter your experience, even with the same strain.

For example, someone who loves Blue Dream will find that Blue Dream flower and Blue Dream concentrate proposes an entirely different experience. If you’d prefer to stick to the same product line, try swapping from the strain you’re using to another type, e.g., if you’re using an indica try a sativa or hybrid.

Swapping from flower to concentrates or from concentrates to edibles can be an easy way to keep your tolerance on its toes and offers a way to experience similar effects at different intensities.

How to Make Cannabis Last Longer

The Timing & Sizing of Your Dosage Affect the Duration of Your High

Another symptom of a high tolerance is a shorter high.

Often, patients who consistently use cannabis will find that they are required to up their dosage to receive the same effects, and although there’s certainly nothing wrong with adding more, there are some interesting ways to increase the duration of your high from cannabis.

Set, setting, & dosage are the most critical components of making sure that your experience is a pleasant one, and they can affect the duration of your high too.

Too low of a dose in a poor setting will alter your mood, which will affect how you experience the high from cannabis. A stressful or high-strung environment can also dimmish the effects and shorten the duration of your high, so for the best experience you should find a calm and relaxing environment to consume cannabis in.

Provided you’re in the best-case scenario and still experiencing a reduced duration in your high, there are some tools you can use to help bring your cannabis back to a potent level for you.

T-Breaks, Mangos, & Cacao Can Make Your Cannabis More Potent & Last Longer

The first resort to addressing the diminished effects from cannabis is to confront your tolerance level.

If your tolerance reaches its maximum capacity, the simplest way to make cannabis more potent and last longer is to take a tolerance break.

After ceasing the use of cannabis for enough time to let your body clear itself of THC, when you return to using cannabis, the effects will be much more potent, and last considerably longer.

Pro Tip: When returning from a T-Break, try to use the smallest dosage possible. You’ll be approaching cannabis with a clean slate, and the doses you were using before your tolerance break will likely be too large for your new state.

If a tolerance break isn’t an option for your treatment plan, there are three ways to help increase the duration or potency of your cannabis.

Mangos notoriously contain a high amount of a terpene called myrcene, which is commonly found in cannabis. Myrcene is known for its pain relief, anti-inflammatory, and relaxing properties, and studies suggest myrcene may play a significant role in the potency and duration of the high from THC because of the way it works on the blood-brain barrier.

Cacao, the awful tasting seed that produces chocolate, contains two compounds that may help - THC & CBD more potent and last longer.

THC works because it is molecularly shaped in such a way that it fits into receptors throughout your Central Nervous System. These receptors are designed to receive a compound called anandamide, which is shaped very similarly to THC.

These two compounds may inhibit the metabolic breakdown of anandamide and THC, making the effects from THC last longer and seem more potent. To effectively get the benefits of these two compounds from cacao, you’ll need to have a chocolate bar or powder that contains at least 98% cacao and consume it generously.

The third way to increase the duration and potency of your high is by consuming additional therapeutic terpenes that are known to work synergistically with cannabinoids or terpenes in the cannabis plant. There are many ways to consume these terpenes, and they’re commonly sold in many types of products such as aromatic oils, concentrates, or food additives.

Adding additional terpenes to your treatment plan can make the high from cannabis feel more potent and last longer, and many patients find it’s the perfect way to combat a high tolerance!
